High Polish Finishes
We can high polish your entire carb body and float bowl, to a high luster with a new vendor’s services. Their Centrifugal Barrel method polishes the entire body, with all its nooks and crannies to a high luster, better than our basic slurry tumble cleaning. If you want a show stopper you might want this extra! Add $250 to the basic restoration package, plus an extra week or so.
Sharkhide Polymer Finish
Our cleaning methods often opens the pores of the metals we refinish. Sharkhide gives a durable finish to the high stress climate of the engine compartment. The application is $25 per carburetor or piece. (The stuff is expensive, like $80 a quart)
We can powder-coat your intake manifold, which includes a good cleaning, light sandblasting and your choice of colors. Typical cost is about $125.00 unless you have something really big or unusual in shape or configuration, in which case we’ll get a special quote. We can also powder-coat exhaust manifolds with a high-temp finish. This usually takes a couple of extra weeks, as the high-temp finish does not run as often. High Temp powder coat finish usually runs about $225 for a small LBC manifold. Again, if it’s big or unusual, let us quote it for you.
High Polish Stainless Steel Heat Shield
We have a new vendor who provides us with really nice SS heat shields. These are mainly for MGBs HS and HIF setups, but ask, as more are becoming available all the time. We add Lavacloth shielding to the back of these units to help ward off the effects of the exhaust manifold on the fuel system. They are nicely made and available for both left and right hand vehicles. We try to keep a couple in stock, but if we sell out, it’s a couple of weeks for us to get them in. $150.
They are really nice, they just don’t photograph well.
Check your garage shelves
We are always looking for unusual parts and systems. If you have an old set of carbs stuck on a shelf in the garage, there is someone out there looking for them. We are always looking to find manifolds, super chargers, and carb sets or parts. Send us a note and let us know what you have.
We are always putting SUs and Strombergs on unusual applications: SU conversions for the TR6 and most recently an interesting car to be entered in “The Great Race” and a set of Stromberg CD150s for an experimental plane in Brazil!
